Leita is a born-and-raised beach bum currently residing in Santa Rosa Beach, Florida, comfortably nestled between Destin and Panama City Beach. This blog focuses on life along the glorious Gulf Coast.

Before wordpress.com sent her an invite, she called Sparktown her home and still does but the intrigue of getting into a new concept so early has her full attention.

What About the Dorky Blog Title?

Elle on Heels is an old moniker created when an ex-patriot at her former job refused to properly pronounce her name and shortened it to “L.” The initial caught on and grew to Elle on Heels when Leita developed plantar fasciitis and an attractive hobble in her gait.

(And you thought it meant a fondness for stillettos, didn’t you!)

Refusing the advice of her physician, (“Let’s do surgery, it’ll be fun!”) Leita treated the überpainful condition with two years of exercise, diligently wearing Birkenstock shoes and no cortisone shots. She can now walk in the morning.

About ‘Today’s Surf’ Link Category

After last year’s Hurricane Ivan and this year’s Dennis, most of the safety flags located at public beach accesses were blown away and have yet to be replaced. Thus the “Today’s Surf” link category, updated daily (albeit late at times) so friends planning a day at the beach will know whether to pack a surfboard, a jar of meat tenderizer or foul weather gear.
